Japanese culture(Ikki Aoshima)

Japanese Ney Year holiday's pictures
Hello every one!!
This week, we introduce about Japanese cultures.

There are a lot of special New Year holiday events in the world.
Japanese New Year holidays are also so special!!
I’d like to introduce about Japanese New Year to you all!

Japanese people clean our room elaborately by 12/31. We believe that if we clean our room, we can get furniture next year! So I cleaned my room last year.

In 12/31, many people eat “Toshikoshi soba”!
Soba is buckwheat noodles.
We want to cut off an accident last year by eating “Soba”.

Midnight of 12/31, some people go to a shrine to pay their first visits of the year, the others watch special TV programs. Many special TV programs are broadcasted on that day.
The most popular program is “Kouhakeutagassenn (red and white singing contest).
Only Japanese top singers can appear on this program. So, a lot of Japanese singers aim to appear it.

In 1/1, many families eat Osechi (New Year dishes), Zoni, and a rice cake and so on.
We place “Kadomatsu” in front of the gates which are a pair of pine decorations, and also place “Kagamimochi” in our house.

Then, Japanese children can get a New Year’s gift i.e. money (Otoshidama)!
I think, receiving it is one of the most pleasures for children during the New Year holidays!!

As Japanese old traditions, we send a letter in turn of the year.
And on 1/1, we send a special letter which is called “Nengajyou”.
Reading it also gives pleasure because it explains about everybody’s life and their health.

These things describe Japanese New Year holidays the best!
I want to know other countries New Year’s too.

Thank you.
